Four Faculty Roundtables on Emerging Research and Teaching Cases
The Case Research Unit (CRU) hosted a series of four faculty roundtables on Friday, November 21, 2025, bringing together SDSB faculty to discuss evolving themes in governance, sustainability reporting, public finance, and data analytics. The tightly scheduled sessions, held throughout the afternoon in SDSB, offered an opportunity for faculty to exchange feedback on ongoing research and explore emerging teaching materials.
The day began with a discussion led by Dr. Mohsin Bashir, titled “Are Pakistani Government Organisations Capable of Making Credible Budgets?”. Chaired by Dr. M. Ahsan Rana, the session invited critical reflections on public administration, fiscal credibility, and leadership challenges within Pakistan’s budgetary institutions.
In the afternoon, two parallel roundtables were held. The first, chaired by Dr. Syed Aun R. Rizvi, featured Dr. Tanveer Shehzad’s case “Between a Rock and a Hard Place: Pakistan’s Federal Budget for 2022–23”, focusing on public finance, government–business dynamics, and macro-fiscal pressures shaping Pakistan’s recent budgeting process.
Running concurrently, Ms. Ayesha Bhatti chaired a session on the technical teaching note “IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standard: IFRS S1 and S2” authored by Ms. Mahin Moazzam and Ms. Samia Ahmed Ali. The roundtable explored the global shift toward sustainability reporting and the implications of the new standards for publicly listed firms.
The day concluded with Dr. Ussama Yaqub’s session, “The Evolution of Analytics in Business and Technology”, chaired by Dr. M. Adeel Zaffar, offering insights into how data analytics is reshaping decision-making and transforming industries.
These roundtables are part of SDSB’s ongoing efforts to encourage faculty dialogue, strengthen teaching materials under development, and enhance the school’s case-based learning environment.
