On July 8, 2023, in a significant move towards enhancing collaboration between academia, industry, and the public sector, the Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and the Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PRGMEA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a three-year partnership aimed at mutual growth and development.

Mr. Waseem Akhtar Khan, Chairman (NZ) PRGMEA shared, "The MoU signing between LUMS and PRGMEA is a significant milestone. By joining forces, we aim to bridge the gap between theory and practice, drive research and development, and equip the industry with the knowledge and skills required for future success. This partnership will provide valuable opportunities for students and professionals alike. I congratulate SDSB-LUMS and PRGMEA on this commendable initiative and look forward to the positive impact it will have on the industry."

Dr. Anjum Fayyaz, Assistant Professor at SDSB and Programme Director for the MS Business and Public Policy (BPP) programme, highlighted that the MS BPP programme plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between business and public policy, addressing the critical need for collaboration between industry and policy platforms. Dr. Fayyaz emphasised that the programme empowers students to comprehend the intricate relationship between various business operations and public policy, thereby enabling them to contribute meaningfully to informed policy decisions. The recent MoU with PRGMEA further amplifies this mission, promising valuable opportunities for students and faculty to engage with a prominent industry player and contribute to shaping effective policies that drive economic growth and development. Dr. Fayyaz reiterated that the programme's overarching goal remains to foster a robust connection between academia, industry, and policymaking, producing graduates equipped to make substantial contributions in this vital arena.

The MoU outlines several key objectives that pave the way for a stronger, more synergistic relationship between the two organisations. These include:

1. Creating impactful industry-academic linkages

2. Knowledge transfer and information sharing through seminars, conferences, and workshops.

3. Research and development collaboration through student research projects and fieldwork.

4. Government engagement and policy advocacy through strategic discussions.

5. Talent exchange and placement.

6. Establishment of a collaborative working group.

Mr. Mubashar Naseer Butt, Chairman (Center) PRGMEA shared his views with the SDSB communications team during the event, "The PRGMEA and SDSB-LUMS MoU signing ceremony was a remarkable event.
