The Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) welcomed the incoming MBA Class of 2028 through an orientation programme designed to introduce students to the academic environment, professional opportunities, resources and community that will shape their experience at LUMS.

The orientation brought together a series of academic, professional and community-focused sessions, giving students an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the School, meet members of the SDSB and LUMS community, and learn about the resources and experiences available to them throughout their MBA journey. From sessions with academic leadership and alumni to introductions to student services, campus facilities and student organisations, the programme provided a comprehensive introduction to life at SDSB.

Beginning the MBA journey at SDSB

The orientation provided students with an opportunity to engage with the School's leadership through sessions with Dr. Adeel Zaffar, Dean, SDSB, and Dr. Moeen Naseer Butt, Associate Professor and Director MBA Program. These sessions introduced students to the academic environment at SDSB and offered insights into the MBA journey ahead.
Students also had the opportunity to engage in a Management Committee session featuring Mr. Abdul Razak Dawood, Pro-Chancellor, LUMS, and Mr. Shahid Hussain, Rector, LUMS.

The session provided the incoming cohort with an opportunity to hear from senior university leadership and gain perspectives on leadership, professional growth and the broader LUMS experience.

Learning from the MBA Community

Connecting with alumni was an important part of the orientation. The MBA Alumni session brought together accomplished graduates from diverse industries, including Suneel Sarfraz Munj , CEO, PakWheels; Mehrukh Burki, Head Corporate Banking, HBL; Ahsan Umar, CEO and Country Manager, Bata Pakistan; and Sidra Umar, Head of Marketing, MG Motors Pakistan.
The session also featured recent graduates Kashaan Masroor, Trade Marketeer, BAT GBS, Dania Khan, Assistant Brand Manager, Samsung; and Asma Faizan Ahad, IT Business Partner, Packages. Their varied experiences offered students perspectives on the different career paths and opportunities that can follow an MBA at SDSB.
Students also interacted with the MBA Class of 2027, providing an opportunity to connect with peers further along in the programme and learn from their experiences.

Exploring Opportunities Beyond the Classroom

The orientation introduced students to opportunities that complement their academic experience. A session with the Student Placement Office highlighted career support and professional development opportunities available to MBA students, while the Student Exchange session introduced the cohort to opportunities for international exposure and learning beyond the LUMS campus.

Building a Community

The Welcome and Networking Session provided the incoming cohort with an opportunity to meet their classmates and begin building relationships that will become an important part of their MBA experience.
The orientation concluded with a Hi-Tea with the Dean and MBA Council, bringing students together with School leadership and student representatives in an informal setting.

A New Beginning for the MBA Class of 2028

The MBA Orientation marked the beginning of a new chapter for the Class of 2028. Through interactions with faculty, programme leadership, alumni and fellow students, the cohort began its journey with a stronger understanding of the SDSB community and the opportunities available at LUMS.

As the Class of 2028 begins its MBA journey, SDSB looks forward to supporting students as they learn, collaborate, build meaningful connections and make the most of their experience at LUMS.
