Speaker session: The Global Financial Services Industry – Landscape and Opportunities for Career Growth
On February 23, 2024, the Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) hosted a presentation titled "The Global Financial Services Industry – Landscape and Opportunities for Career Growth" by Mr. Yawar Shah. Renowned as the former Chairman of the Board at SWIFT and former Managing Director at both Citigroup and JP Morgan, Mr. Shah's expertise spans fintech, payments, securities, wealth management, and operations/technology within the financial sector. With over 35 years of experience, he has been recognised for his significant contributions, including prestigious awards such as the Lifetime Achievement Award in Securities from Global Custodian and the Crain's 40 Under 40 Award.
Mr. Shah's presentation explored various facets of the global financial landscape, drawing from his extensive career experience. He provided insights into bank mergers, risk management, cybersecurity, market infrastructures, and operating payments businesses. Attendees had the privilege of gaining valuable knowledge from Mr. Shah's educational background, which includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Harvard College, Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
