Mr. Muhammad Imran Malik, CEO, Bata Pakistan Limited has committed to donating PKR 2.4 million annually to LUMS in the name of ‘Bata Pakistan Scholarship Fund’. The amount pledged will sponsor 2 talented National Outreach Programme (NOP) scholars at the University.

The NOP – recently shortlisted as the regional finalist for the CASE Platinum Awards in the Asia Pacific region for the ‘Best Practices in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’ category - has funded over 700 scholars since inception and provides full tuition waivers and additional living stipends and allowances. The NOP focuses on the University’s commitment to diversity, inclusion and access, and annually, reaches out to over 12,000 potential applicants across Pakistan.

An enthusiastic philanthropist and a strong believer in giving back to society, Mr. Malik shares that “philanthropy isn’t about money. The essence of it is in feeling the pain of others and caring enough about their needs.”

Bata Pakistan Limited supports various charitable organisations and also contributes towards the rehabilitation of society after the destruction caused by natural disasters. The Bata Children Programme encourages and supports disadvantaged children by providing shoes, donations and engaging them in healthy activities that add value to their lives.

This partnership with LUMS is a reflection of the company’s vision towards playing a more constructive role in the betterment of society.
